It calls to him like a machine (calm, quiet in spite of circumstance or coming storm), and the unexpected reality of that fact alone stops Connor dead in his tracks just half a step beyond the open doorway. Left purposefully open, he now suspects, already retroactively piecing together a scattered collection of fragmented evidence, a mix of visual and logical cues.

(Yellow— whirs the half-obscured LED at his temple. Yellow, yellow—)

The deviant knows his name. The deviant must then also know his purpose, and it's simulated irritation that twists his features by a fractional difference once he realizes: he's inadvertently flushed out his game.

There are cells dispersed across all of Detroit, from what little intel both Connor and the DPD were able to acquire (the FBI shared nothing, and Connor could not determine whether that was a matter of personal preference from Perkins, or a direct order from his superiors). If the Deviant Leader was warned and subsequently fled, chasing it down could take months. It could take years— time a prototype whose sole purpose is to efficiently and cleanly neutralize android threats does not have.

It is also possible, considering this android's assumed status within Jericho, that he might be able to coax their leader back from wherever it's fled to by inflicting excessive harm on this model, or by directly deconstructing its memory.

(Red, red— yellow—)

He lifts his handgun from where it had been tucked in discreetly against his spine, leveling it in a fevered instant, movements sharp and eager. A hound on a chain. His demand is simple. He wastes no time:
