[Chloe takes a swig of the drink, finds Ros's assessment right on target when warmth washes over her tongue, chased by sweetness and tailed by a low, steady heat in the back of her throat. Damn good mix.] Which I do.

Two generators and a couple of canisters of fuel. You may begin the round of applause-- [wait for it...] now.

Your idea of fun has always been skewed.

[ She closes her eyes, tips back in her chair. There is sun here and there these days, and it is always worth the time to appreciate it.

Upon Chloe's cue she lifts her hands and claps slowly. The noise is loud and echoing in the stillness. ] Excellent. Winter will come all too soon.

Ouch, hey. I don't insult your love of sorting pointless files, or stacking things all alphabetically.

[Chloe waves her free hand as if there are still books to be shelved and data to be shuffled, but the illusion of it makes it all that much easier. She steals another sip afterwards.]

[ She takes the teasing easily these days, a familiar give and take, and then shrugs and opens her eyes again. ]

[The bottle's set down between them, an excuse to fix her eyes on Ros with as severe a deadpan as she can manage.]

[ She - yeah, no, she would. She meets Chloe's stare with a sigh, picks the bottle back up. ]

No more discussion of winter, then. I suppose we have time.

[Of course she would. Chloe's flat expression goes soft, the corners of her eyes squinting under the press of a proud smile: Ros is truly one of a kind.]

Never as much as we'd like. [And, because Ros isn't wrong to bring up the subject even if it's less than pleasant] Took a look at one of the generators today. Might be able to get it up and running with a little work before the chill sets in.

But always enough, regardless. [ They're a remarkably resourceful pair. It's worked so far. She refuses to admit the possibility that there could come a day when it won't work. ]

I can provide any manual labor necessary. [ She's never been good with machines, but she's learning what's necessary to know. ] Our stocks are looking all right.

[In a way, the thought of having Ros helping with some of the heavy lifting puts Chloe off. It's not that Ros can't handle it, that she's not more than capable or needs to be looked after, but that if anyone has to sweat out the grunt work between them, Chloe would prefer it to be her.

Ros is meant for better things. ]
